Over the next few weeks, we will be posting more discussion topics and conducting polls to get a temperature-read of what you're feeling. We're hoping to get contest and prize ideas, theme suggestions, and any other creative conceptualizations you can offer

Been a month, this still gonna be a thing? Or is the community just not big enough?
The writing community of Naruto-Boards is really small, but that's fine. It's not the size of the community that really matters, it's the activity level.

Knowing how Hyuuga holds this project really dearly, it will most certainly happen. Just be patient, dears.

Bi-weekly contests sound like a neat idea to me. I'm down for them, I might even participate! :3 Do you guys want them it to be specific like poetry only? Or should it be broad enough to for from Haikus to short stories?

Writing is a great form of art, and I'm all willing to let you guys expand your creativity. I do not mind rewarding you guys for it too! ;)
Honestly I wouldn't mind writing something of greater length. No need to be so limited when there's so many various things we could do.

Message me if you want to know the secrets of the universe. Mods signing sigs is a real thing? Just assumed people put the stuff there themselves.

Indeed, I sincerely apologize. The staff has been preoccupied with Moderator Recruitment, which is frankly taking a lot of energy at the moment. Given that this project is in fact very dear to me and the rest of the NWAS staff, it will surely be brought back, most likely post-moderator recruitment.

Natsume will also be the person in charge once the project rejuvenates itself. But I will of course be involved still.

&&The ideas presented are exciting. We are in fact thinking of holding contests biweekly (we feel like weekly may be too excessive and end up removing the minimal thrill/speciality of the contests). And kind of in the spirit of the impromptu one, we're thinking of having a contest that presents a picture or a piece of art and providing some sort of limitation and asking people to write a piece about it. What do you all think?

&&&We might as well discuss the ideas here instead of the poll topics that were discussed earlier. That'll be more helpful, I think. Feel free to chime in.

Good to see you still looking after us Hyuuga

Bi-weekly sounds ideal. And the concept of writing based on a piece of art is absolutely awesome, never thought of anything like that. I hope that goes ahead.

Another idea, which I'm not sure is feasible or not. But some kind of ongoing points/ranking system. e.g. winning one of the biweekly competitions affords you 'x' amount of points to your tally. You could have a leaderboard somewhere. I dunno, needs polishing obviously, just a way to potentially keep people around for the long haul.

Edit: Further to this. You could run the event over a season, e.g. autumn or spring, and have people sign up at the start or any time during the season. That way you have roughly 6 of the aforementioned tournaments to accumulate points. And have a champion for that season. If it's not too much trouble, you could give each participant a number of tokens upon registration, that they can use to vote on other peoples works in the section. For example, if Austin writes a new creative piece and posts it in the writing section, I can comment that I enjoyed it and would like to give it one of my tokens. Number of tokens you receive could contribute to your overall score, but not to the extent of doing well in a biweekly contest.

Again, just spitballing to hopefully inspire some more nice ideas.

The latter ideas actually sounds quite lovely. Some sort of incentive or material like tokens to increase activity of the writing section itself seems ideal. I'm definitely down to explore that with the team more.

& Regarding the awards system/season point thing - I'm curious to see this, but I do think it'll be too early to get done? But I really want to explore this too; think I need to really ponder this a lot more. Any more ideas or thoughts regarding this from anyone is absolutely welcome!

Short story contests sound fun. You would choose if it's a action or horror story etc and the winner gets a tag and their showcase is pinned to the first page.

Cool, we've compiled the list of feedback on this topic and we decided to launch the first event in this project.

Poetic Phoenix - Naruto-Boards' Official Writing Contest!

I'll be locking this topic now. We'll be launching other feedback topics in the writing section with more pointed questions. Preview of those questions are actually in a poll on the contest linked above.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward for the rise of the Writing Class!
