Yeah, it used to be its own subsection under Art Schools then, but it got switched to a sub, sub section. I do agree, I think part of its inactivity is its invisibility.

And yes, we're planning on holding workshops and stuff--and one on fanfic should definitely be one!!!

&& keep all the other great ideas coming, we promise, we're listening!

To give the writing section the exposure and rework it deserves, thus making it lively again. That way more members can join future writing events and share a creative side of themselves.

Yup, what Baka said, and it isn't just mods who would want this, I hope. This isn't solely for us. This is for you. We want to have a fun and dynamic writing section. That's why we're open to all of your suggestions, etcetera.

Ehh you guys are the same people who gimped the drawing section. Is that coming back to or shall it forever remain raped?

Also you said something about reworks. Besides making the writing section a header, what more can you really rework. You aren't going to break it up into a bunch of subsections are you? Cause that would just make it deader.

I think the drawing section was compiled with other classes due to extreme lack of activity, although I'm not too sure as I was not around during that revamp.

And I meant reworks more in a general sense. Potentially instituting more events, possible workshops, anything that can try to bloom into more activity. This is especially where we want to hear members' suggestions/ideas. And I don't think we're going to divide it up into more subsections, as you so astutely pointed out.

It had way more active contributors than the writing section had at the time. http://naruto-boards.com/924486/ninja-works-revamp/2/ (It was one huge "fuck you" if you ask me.)

Anyway, gl.

My only suggestion would be to read this: http://naruto-boards.com/900278/writing-contests/1/

some cool ideas were thrown around in it.

Been a month, this still gonna be a thing? Or is the community just not big enough?

For the writing section why not have the same as tutorials? Naruto Board members sharing different ways to write literature. Sorry going to say a cursed word but like a school of writing with some tips on how to be a successful writer.

We could have impromptu writing competitions? I participated in a couple of those irl. Basically you have a limited amount of time to post a piece based on a theme.

How much time? The problem with very limited time periods is that less people will be exposed to it, therefore garnering little participation.

True, and it already looks like not too many users are open to writing literature.

I've given this a lot of thought, and I've come up with what I think is a pretty decent idea. There should be a writing contest bi-weekly, sort of like the sotw thing. The theme could be picked by the previous winner and prizes could be supplied by the mods for each specific contest. It seems like n-b has a lot of writers and the problem I see with the previous contests is that they're very sporadic. Yes, they're around certain holidays, but there hasn't been a great deal of consistency. With the decent amount of writers here on n-b, having a bi-weekly would assure that people know about these contests and they might be more inclined to come alive, so to speak. It would also bring members that may not normally think about writing to the writing section.

I know this idea may not separate the writing section from the others, but it would be a great start to spark activity.

The writing community of Naruto-Boards is really small, but that's fine. It's not the size of the community that really matters, it's the activity level.

Knowing how Hyuuga holds this project really dearly, it will most certainly happen. Just be patient, dears.

Bi-weekly contests sound like a neat idea to me. I'm down for them, I might even participate! :3 Do you guys want them it to be specific like poetry only? Or should it be broad enough to for from Haikus to short stories?

Writing is a great form of art, and I'm all willing to let you guys expand your creativity. I do not mind rewarding you guys for it too! ;)
