'Cause people make crappy topics. There's no room for debate when the battles are so one-sided. That, or they're the same shit over and over again. It's not as creative as before.

There is no more good battles to be open anymore, every Naruto battle has been done for like x100 times, and when you open a battle for some other anime/manga, you get like 2-3 replies max, since everyone here is Naruto oriented (with some small mix of Bleach, OP and Fairy Tail), so that's why battledome is nothing those days.

#just saying.

Pretty much retired from NB, find me on MyAnimeList from now on

There are a couple debaters who actually knew what they were talking about and were actually fun to debate against, such as Minato-Sempai and Krapkicker. They're on occasionally, but not as much as they used to be. As for USSJ, I couldn't care less.

As there are only a limited number of characters, Battledome topics will eventually begin to become redundant, even with all the different animes/mangas out there. Any suggestions on how to make this section more interesting? Perhaps an archive of all past topics that are unique that one could scroll through and view all the original good topics? Somewhat like an official discussion topic. I mean it probably wouldn't change much, but it might spark new ideas and potentially prevent duplicate topics from popping up. I'm going to sticky this for now, I want to see what people say

Because first, people know so little about some charcters of naruto other than their major jutsus. That coupled with knowing little to nothing of any other anime/manga's makes for crappy battledome matches.

@Uber

What justifies a "good" topic? I've seen topics that are like Sasuke vs Naruto and they go on forever. I've seen topics with well thought out teams, locations, and restrictions, but get about 3 posts. We don't need an archive, since the archive could be made off of bias, at least how you described how the archive would be put together. The amount of pages we have now are at a good enough amount to be able to find topics if you're really curious. The topics that are still posted on for a significant amount of time, i.e, a good topic, find themselves back to the front page anyways.

A suggestion about the Battledome in general is to turn the post count off. It should keep the spammers away for the most part and keep the people who actually are interested in other peoples opinions here and keep debates going with legitimate arguments.

Yes you bring up a good point. Spamming is inevitable in this sub-section because the rules allow one word replies and even empty quoting. The thing about Battledome is that it is one of the most active components of the Anime/Manga section. To turn the post count off here would definitely decrease that activity. I suppose it depends whether you value quality over quantity or not. This will definitely be discussed with the Anime/Manga staff

A couple of things:

For me, the most interesting battledome topics aren't the 1V1's but when you make teams of random characters (normally all from the same anime, for power balance) and debaters get to think of what strategies or 'team' advantages they would have etc. It allows people to get a bit creative rather than just reiterate facts from the manga over and over. More well balanced topics like this would be sweet.

Might be a bit out of the realm of posibility but another idea would be for users to be able to rate the battle. If someone thinks up a cool battle, that everyone votes worth thinking about (say it averages a 9 out of 10 on votes) then sticky it for a while until discussion dies down, or at least find some way of keeping the great battles near the front of the thread. You dont even have to write your argument just drop a rating if the thread gets you thinking. I've seen so many good fights get like 3 comments and then get lost in a sea of 'Youre stupid of course minato would beat itachi' etc.

just some suggestions

Edit: Could probably even have a hall of fame for the best match ups made based on their rankings

Cause people just post random bullshit for the post count.

Examples: Ayame and Saishippuden that's how they get their posts.

I have no way trying to incite drama just stating a fact.

Suggestion topic you say?
Well Id suugest to the staff or anyone else to make a legit Battledome Tournament.
I have an idea how this could actually work, but all I have is an iPod to get on N-B. If anyone is interested in this PM me and we could discuss it.

How about a tag tournament? I won't PM you, but I hope your idea comes to reality.

Tournaments don't usually work because people just vote for the character that they like more, not the one that would actually, logically win the fight. So it's pretty much a popularity contest and nothing more.

That's why rules can set be setup to follow a specific debate form instead of just voting.
