Wrong, totally. Re-read the rules. Also note that someone must get the boat back on the starting side. There is lots of riding in both directions here.

I am not sure I understand... I guess that you are asking if being in a boat counts as being on one of the sides.

If that's what you are asking than yes, being in a boat counts as being on one of the sides.

EDIT: Must go now, I'll be back in 30 minutes. I wish someone solve it in that time. If not I'll post another one but I will not provide the answer for this one. :tounge

9. mother takes father across again and leaves him, and returns.

11. daughter1 gets off and father gets on boat.
12. mother takes father back, and father swaps with daughter 2.
13. mother takes daughter2 to other side and then she returns finally to pick up father again one last time.

AAAA, you almost had it. Sorry but it's wrong. Check the last step. Mather can't take daughter2 on the other side because there are sons on that side and father is left behind on starting side.

EDIT: thanks J-man for sticking this.

I dont understand how thats wrong.
But she only takes daughter2 to other side and doesnt get off, so she doesnt actually stay with the sons at all.

Even is she is inside the boat and just drops her daughter on the other side, it still counts as she is on the other side. Since father is on the starting side she will slap her sons. First half of your answer is good but there is one point where you went into wrong direction. Try again.

EDIT: Here is a short one:
Two planes take off at the same exact moment. They are flying across the Atlantic. One leaves New York and is flying to Paris at 500 miles per hour. The other leaves Paris and is flying to New York at only 450 miles per hour ( because of a strong head wind ). Which one will be closer to Paris when they meet?
